Major Vince Gwilym - Fly Fishing CV I have been living in England since 1996, at Fold Farm and as you see I am available on all systems, including "the net". My fishing CV is as follows: I have been fly fishing for 55 years. Four times Lake International, runner up to the Brown Bowl winner (International Champion) at Llyn Brenig, twice Top Rod in the final trials. I have fished in all the major international fly fishng venues in Great Britain and never blanked, (thank goodness!!). Assisted with ladies international and ghillied in Wales, Scotland and England, and once slept with the English Ladies Team, (in the same hotel of course).

Fished Three River Internationals, captained the Rivers Team in 1993. Welsh Rivers Champion in 1992, coached the Rivers Team in 1995, silver medal. In 1996 on the River Wye at Bakewell we took gold. Because of politics I was not able to coach two teams at the same time (Youth and Rivers) and the Rivers coach went to another very competant person, because they won gold in 1998 in Scotland.

One of the coaches to the Welsh Youth Team for (I think) 14 years, these have been very special years for me working with the young fisherpersons of Wales.

Ghillied for seven youth internationals on the run, my record is five top boats and two second best boats.

To crown my fishing career I was proud to captain the Welsh World Fly fishing Team in Jackson Hole Wyoming USA, where I was top Welsh Rod. I qualified to travel to the 1999 championship in the Snowy Mountains Australia which took place in November.

During one of my best seasons on the River Derwent , I netted over 1000 fish, various: Brown (to 2lb) Rainbows, (to 3lbs), Grayling (to 2 1/2lbs) Chub (to 4lbs) and one Pike of 10 lbs that took me 35 minutes to land on 4lb tippet. Out of that total, I have only killed 10 Rainbows and 1 Pike, the Pike ended up on the Duchess of Devonshire's dining table, all the other fish were returned safely to the water.
